The purpose in adopting criteria for committee member service is to set basic standards that outline expectations for members serving on Committees. Qualifications for Appointment: • Committee member candidates shall attend two Committee Meetings prior to appointment. • Candidates shall attend the Board Meeting at which their appointment is considered. • Candidates shall be in compliance with the Association’s governing documents, including, but not limited to, being current in the payment of Assessments, and not being in willful breach of the governing documents. Knowledge: • Committee members should have some education &/or expertise related to the charter of the committee on which they wish to serve. • On certain occasions the Board may appoint a non-homeowner to a committee. Conduct: • All Committees shall work in constructive collaboration with the Board, other Committees and Management to the benefit of the Nellie Gail Ranch community. • Above all, committee members need to recognize that they are acting as community leaders and are advisers to the Board of Directors. As such, they need to work together with other Adopted October 19, 2021 – Revised March 18, 2025 committees and reach cohesive compromises when individual committee goals differ. • Committee members should always work with the Board to achieve the best outcome for the whole of Nellie Gail. • Members need to understand that the Board has final authority on all decisions • Committee members need to act with honor and respect. Attendance: A committee member shall not have • Two un-notified absences in a year (“un-notified” means the member did not call ahead to a reasonable contact in the organization before the upcoming meeting to indicate they would be gone from the upcoming meeting). • Three notified absences in a row. • Missed one third of the total number of committee meetings in a twelve-month period. Responsibilities: • Volunteer/work a minimum of 24 hours a year (excluding regular meeting attendance) on committee projects • Reviews all relevant material before committee meetings • Pay attention to association activities that affect or are affected by the committee's work • Support the efforts of the committee chair and carry out individual assignments made by the chair Failure to comply with Committee Member Criteria may result in removal from the Committee.
