This Week in Nellie Gail Ranch
From the Week ending June 2, 2023
Equine Health Notification
We wish to make Nellie Gail Ranch homeowners aware of outbreaks of Vesicular Stomatitis Virus (VSV) in San Diego County, San Bernardino County & Riverside County. VSV is primarily spread by infected flies. The Nellie Gail Ranch Equestrian Center has implemented precautionary measures to reduce exposure to our horses. To date there are not any cases in Orange County and therefore no restrictions on shows or trailering inside OC or any non-infected area, but we are encouraging restricting movement unless necessary. |
Nellie Gail Ranch Equestrian Center recommends the following: |
Avoid traveling to infected counties (San Diego, San Bernardino & Riverside).Do not allow horses that have been to infected counties for the past 30 days to trailer onto your property.Use fly spray and fly protectant equipment.VSV is transferable to humans and causes flu like symptoms, avoid touching unfamiliar horses.Do not share communal waters or equipment with other horses. |
Please make any of your private boarders aware of the outbreak and consider implementing your own protocols to restrict movement of horses under your care. Please feel free to contact the Equestrian Center Manager at 949-371-1595 if you have any questions or concerns. |
