CC&R Amendment Ballot

The ballots are continuing to come in and we are up to 720 valid ballots cast. We are up to 51% received leaving 49% of Nellie Gail Ranch homeowners with an opportunity to still cast a ballot for or against the amendments. Please return your ballot in the postage pre-paid envelope at your earliest opportunity. The Inspector of Election will open and count ballots at the March 28th meeting.

Please remember to sign the outside envelope where indicated.

Emergency Preparedness

Community Training

Are you prepared for any type of an emergency?Do you have a “Grab n Go Bag” ready in your vehicle?
The Emergency Preparedness Committee will conduct an Emergency Preparedness Community Training on Monday, March 13th at 7pm at the Watering Hole. The training will focus on preparing for quick response time in case of emergency and items that are essential for your “Grab n Go Bag” for your vehicle. Nellie Gail Ranch residents are invited to attend this very informative training. It is important that Association members be prepared for possible disasters or emergencies which can strike at any time. Short Term Rentals on City Council Agenda February 28, 2023

The topic of short-term rentals is on the City Council’s meeting agenda for Tuesday, February 28, 2023. The staff report is available via the button below. The report reflects the results of the survey the city conducted November 14th through December 1, 2022. The report identifies and describes the following four regulatory options and seeks direction from the Council:
1. Take No Action2. Adopt an Ordinance to Ban STRs3. Regulate STRs4. Regulate and Tax STRs
Homeowners with an interest in Short Term Rental regulation or restrictions may wish to attend the meeting or log on to the city website and provide comments or express a preference for one of the regulatory options.
The City Council Meeting is Tuesday, February 28, 2023 7:00 PM at 24035 El Toro Road, Laguna Hills, CA 92653.

Equestrian Center Clubhouse Improvement Project

The Equestrian Committee and Nellie Gail Ranch Board of Directors are excited to announce the timing for a long-awaited project to update our Equestrian Center Clubhouse.  We finished the exterior exactly one year ago in March 2020.  We are now ready to work on the interior!

The work will include replacing all kitchen cabinets and appliances.  We will be enlarging the kitchen slightly by removing an old mechanical room and will be installing a window to bring natural light into the kitchen and a view of the Upper Arena.  The main clubhouse will receive new entry and office doors, new tile flooring, and improved overhead lighting.  Additionally, we will be renovating the restrooms with all new fixtures, partitions, tile, and lighting.

The project will be paid from Equestrian Reserves which are solely funded from Equestrian Center boarding and trainer fees.  The refreshed Clubhouse will result in improved use and enjoyment of the Clubhouse and will maintain our Equestrian Center as a first-class boarding and equestrian training facility.

It’s Beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

The prettiest sights you’ll see are the Nellie Gail Ranch entry monuments, Monument Park (near the corner of Oso & Cabot), and the Association Clubhouse entry. There are Christmas trees at the Association and Equestrian Center Clubhouses, lights glistening at the Equestrian Center and soon to be added is the Gallup Park Gazebo.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas everywhere you go in Nellie Gail Ranch.

Solar Panel Cleaning at the Clubhouse

We took the opportunity this week to clean our solar panels of the recent fire ash and accumulated construction dust.  The days may be getting shorter but with our freshly cleaned panels, we are looking forward to improved efficiency for the rest of the year.  Our solar panels installed in 2012 continue to offset energy costs.  The initial investment has been offset by approximately 67% with savings to date and we find our annual savings totals have also increased over the years due to the yearly escalation of energy costs.

Little Free Library

We are so excited to announce that Nellie Gail Ranch has signed up with the nonprofit organization Little Free Library. If you walk or ride bikes in neighboring communities, I’m sure you’ve seen a Little Free Library house.

Little Free Library was started in 2009 with the goal of promoting literacy and the joy of reading. Since then, 100,000 Little Free Libraries can be found all around the world. The idea is to share books and the joy of reading with your neighbors by Giving a Book, Taking a Book.

Our Nellie Gail Ranch Little Free Library is installed close to the entrance of our clubhouse. Next time you are looking for a new book to read, come on down to the clubhouse and see what new books are of interest in our Little Free Library. Bring a book that you have enjoyed and would love to share and, in turn, exchange it with a new book.

Requesting Rustic Donations

We are seeking rustic donations to use in decorating our clubhouse. Two items, in particular, we would love to have is a saddle and saddle stand. Please send photos or descriptions to admin@nelliegailranch.org if you have any items you would be willing to donate. Thank you!!

Clubhouse Planting

Planting at the Clubhouse is nearly complete with final fill in and mulching scheduled next week.  The two trees in the photo are Desert Willow’s adorned with trumpet-shaped flower clusters that bloom late spring to fall. The trees will attract hummingbirds and are said to be fast-growing and easy to maintain. In the planter surrounding the trees, we have Gold Coin Daisy’s, Pigeon Point Dwarf Coyote Brush, and Siskiyou Blue Fescue for a mixture of flowers, shrubs, and grasses. The arbor has Antignon Leptopus Coral Vines which will be adorned with bright pink flowers with deep pink centers.

Thank you to our Landscape Committee who provided input on the plans and plant selection and assisted with locating the boulders. We are looking forward to watching the landscape establish in the coming months!!
