The City of Laguna Hills Traffic Commission is scheduled to meet Wednesday, May 19th. The Nellie Gail Ranch Trails & Safety Committee, with the support of the Equestrian Committee and certain concerned Nellie Gail Ranch Residents, will be attending this meeting to review crosswalk safety concerns focusing on the crosswalks at Nellie Gail Road at the Equestrian Center, the crossing on Nellie Gail Road and Empty Saddle, and the crossing at Nellie Gail Road and Rocking Horse Lane. City staff are preparing a report for the meeting with updates on traffic studies they have completed for these crossings and potential options to implement additional safety measures. The link at the bottom of this post is available to report any concerns you may have with “near misses” or “accidents” with vehicles while crossing these intersections. Please report your experiences as soon as possible as it is important to get previous incidents recorded in order that the Trails & Safety Committee and City may collaborate on best solutions to make our crossings safer for all.
To submit a report please click on the following link and identify your name, the date of the incident, a brief description of the incident, and your relationship to Nellie Gail Ranch (resident, guest, equestrian instructor, equestrian boarder, etc.). If you don’t know the exact date, you may include the approximate date. Thank you in advance for your “near miss” reports as we collaborate with the City to make our streets safer for everyone!
Upper Oso Trail extends from the Nellie Gail Road trailhead across from the Equestrian Center to Moulton Parkway behind Rocking Horse, Highwood Circle, and Red Lodge Place. Running parallel with Oso Parkway, and elevated and distant from its traffic, this trail has some great features. In addition to enjoyment of views, It can be used to access the county trail system via the tunnel beneath Nellie Gail Road and it also connects with Sweetwater Trail. This month, with the support of the Trails & Safety Committee and approval from the City, we have begun regular and ongoing maintenance of this trail that was formerly cleared once annually. This trail greatly improves equestrian access to Moulton Parkway and the Moulton Arena. Plan a visit to this trail soon and enjoy the views on one of your next hikes or equestrian rides.

We invite you to visit the Association Clubhouse this Friday for a low-key Open House Ribbon Cutting ceremony to officially welcome back our homeowners and club members. Live music to be provided by homeowner Dale Erkel and his band Two for the Show!
We are excited for you to enjoy the remodeled Association Clubhouse and facilities and invite you to come by, not just for the Open House, but anytime you may want to meet and socialize with your friends.
(To meet re-opening safety guidelines we ask that face coverings be worn at all times indoors if not eating or drinking.)
Trail grading and weed removal is a primary focus for Nellie Gail Ranch trail maintenance crews this month and next. Consistent with our practice since June 2018 we use organic products to treat weeds such as Avenger Weed Killer, a natural citrus oil-based organic herbicide.
The first priority is grading and filling ruts caused by rain and removing sandbags. The second is removing the weeds from the physical trail (graded dirt path) followed by the large-scale slope weed abatement through the end of May.
The ballots for the June 2, 2021, annual meeting for board member election and two special ballot measures have been mailed by the Inspector of Election. Keep an eye out for your ballot within the next few days. Please take time to review the election materials at your earliest opportunity, and have the owner of record, as reflected on the ballot mailing label, complete the ballot and sign the ballot envelope. You may return your ballot via the postage pre-paid envelope and we will have a ballot box at the office for your convenience as well.
Nellie Gail Ranch EPC Training, Tuesday, May 11th @ 6:30 pm
Please join us for our next EPC training session. Training will be for Block Captains, Area Coordinators, and anyone considering volunteering for these positions. On Tuesday, May 11th at 6:30 p.m. training will be held in person at the Association Cubhouse. Learn what you should do & how you can help us prepare the neighborhood.
Although we finished the Clubhouse refresh project last year we have not had the opportunity to show it off for your use and enjoyment due to the restrictions on inside gatherings. However, due to the County of Orange entering a less restrictive tier we can now open our Clubhouse for use with a maximum capacity of 35 people in the main clubhouse and 15 in the multi-purpose room.
Thank you to our Kindness Rock Garden artist participants! We have received a number of rocks painted with inspirational messages, kind thoughts and lovely artwork. We have placed them in planters at the front of our clubhouse entry. As you visit please look and enjoy and appreciate the love and kindness our artists put into them.
And for those of you who picked up kits but have not turned in your rocks yet, please bring them by so we can keep adding to the collection throughout our Clubhouse entry. There is no deadline or expiration for kind thoughts and expressions!!
