Pet Safety

One of our owners pets was injured this week in the park by an off leash pet. Please be a good and responsible neighbor by maintaining control of your pet while in parks and on trails. Additionally, people with and without pets are sometimes unsure of a dogs intention and can become fearful when approached on a trail or in a community park by an off leash dog. The below flyer from Mission Viejo Animal Services has information regarding the leash law and pet safety.

Nellie Gail Ranch Owners Association Turns 45

On November 10, 1976 the California Secretary of State affixed the Great Seal of the State of California to the Nellie Gail Ranch Owners Association Articles of Incorporation. While that filing by Presley Development Company brought our community into legal existence, the Nellie Gail Ranch heritage goes much farther back. Back to Lewis Moulton who first rented land for his sheep ranch and later purchased it in 1895. Lewis met and courted Nellie Maud Gail for many years before they married in 1908. Just like the Nellie Gail Ranch families of today, Lewis and Nellie Gail Moulton settled here on their Ranch and raised their two daughters Charlotte and Louise. We encourage you to get to know Nellie and Lewis as more than the namesakes of our community. Nellie was an avid painter and a retrospective of her paintings and drawings are currently on exhibit through November 21, 2021 at the Laguna College of Art in Laguna Beach.

You can also visit Aliso Viejo Ranch at 100 Park Avenue which has an original barn and bunkhouse restored to preserve the historical buildings, artifacts and ranching implements from the 1800s. It is a great place for an afternoon visit with your family to see how those who were here before us lived.

Halloween Night Safety Tips

Slow down and be especially alert in residential neighborhoods. Children are excited on Halloween and may move in unpredictable ways.

Take extra time to look for kids at intersections, on medians, and on curbs.

Enter and exit driveways and alleys slowly and carefully.

Get rid of any distractions (like your phone) in your car so you can concentrate on the road and your surroundings.

HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Pumpkin Carving and Decorating Contest! The submissions were so creative and fun. Special thanks to our contributing sponsor, Trustlink Mortgage. Contest winners will be announced on Monday, November 1, 2021.

Sunday Concert

Last Sunday homeowners and guests enjoyed the last concert of the 2021 Summer Concert Series. We had the perfect sunny warm afternoon between a cold Saturday and rainy Monday. Guests danced and enjoyed the afternoon concert to the tunes of surf music. Until next year…

HALLOWEEN HORSE SHOW AND PARADE SUNDAY 9 AM TO 2 PM

Dressage Trainer Katy Mouzis is hosting a Halloween Horse Show and Parade at the Equestrian Center this Sunday. The event is free for spectators! The Dressage Show will be one of the last training activities for horses and riders entering the Nationals Competition as well as an opportunity for other riders to gain show experience in a fun atmosphere.

A coffee, juice, smoothie and acai bowl food truck will be available.

Parking at the Equestrian Center will be very limited so please plan on parking at the Association Clubhouse and walking down via the stairway on the other side of the Volleyball court and down to the arena area.

  • Show etiquette for those viewing is: walk slow, no quick movements that could spook the horses, being quiet, the horse and rider are listening for commands, soft clapping is okay.
  • The Costume Parade will be in the middle arena and will start at 12:15 – Please arrive by 12:00. If you want to be in the parade there is an entry fee. Please email Katy with your name and costume theme so she can announce you properly. katymouzis@gmail.com
