Paddy Speyer’s Perpetual League Champion Trophy

The Nellie Gail Ranch Tennis Club was awarded the 2020 Paddy Speyer’s Perpetual League Champion Trophy. This award goes to the tennis club that has the most teams either at the top or close to the top in their respective divisions. We participate in the Pacific Sun League and there are approximately 2000 women that play in the league throughout Orange County. It is the league’s biggest honor that can go to a club to win this award. All 6 of our teams finished in the top 5 in their divisions! Two placing first and two placing second!

Congratulations and thank you to all of our players and teams for participating and representing Nellie Gail Ranch Tennis Club in the 2019-20 season!

Annual Meeting and Election of Directors and Special Ballot Measure Voting

The Nellie Gail Ranch Owners Association Annual Meeting scheduled for June 3, 2020, at 6:30 p.m. did not meet quorum as 586 homeowners were represented by ballot of the required 704. The Annual Meeting will, therefore, be reconvened to Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at 6:30 p.m.

As the quorum requirement drops to 25% (352 ballots) we are assured of reaching quorum and the Inspector of Election will be able to count ballots and conclude the election of three (3) directors and the special ballot measure regarding 24-hour mobile patrol.

Homeowners who have not already done so may continue to submit ballots. If you require a replacement ballot you may e-mail info@ballotboxservices.com to request one.

The following is information to join in the annual meeting June 10th at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom Meeting Link:

June 3, 2020 Annual Meeting 6:30 PM

To date, we have received 550 ballots leaving us 154 short of quorum for the June 3rd Annual Meeting. There is still time to mail your ballot today or drop it off at the ballot box in the Clubhouse office at 25211 Empty Saddle Drive. However, since we have exceeded the reconvened quorum requirement of 352 for the June 10, 2020, reconvened annual meeting we are assured of holding the election for directors and the special ballot measure no later than that date. If you require a replacement ballot you may e-mail info@ballotboxservices.com to request one. The following is information to join in the annual meeting June 3rd at which we will likely officially announce the reconvened date assuming we do not receive the required 154 additional ballots by June 3rd at 6:30 p.m. We will e-mail the Nellie Gail Ranch Owners Association Members on Thursday, June 4th with an update.

Memorial Day

Gallup Park was the setting for 25 Tribute Banners honoring United States Marines who were killed in action and honored each year at the City’s Half Marathon, five and 10K race.

Many of you came to walk among the banners, and reflect upon the sacrifice of these men. Among those were the father and grandfather of Dave Reynolds, Laguna Hills Deputy City Manager. His father is a Vietnam veteran and his 100-year-old grandfather, a WWII veteran.

Memorial Day Holiday Hours

Monday, May 25, 2020

Swim: 7:00am – 4:00pm
Tennis: 8:00am – 4:00pm
Pickleball: 9:00am – 4:00pm
Association Office Closed

Memorial Day Tribute Banners

Everyone is invited to visit a display of Tribute Banners at Gallup Park honoring each of the 25 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines killed in action during Operation Enduring Freedom. The banners will be up from noon on Saturday, May 23  through Memorial Day, Monday, May 25.

These banners were created for display on city streets during the Laguna Hills Memorial Day Half Marathon 5 and 10K races, which was named in honor of the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines in 2011. For many Veterans and Gold Star families, this annual event became a comforting and beloved pilgrimage.

COVID-19 canceled the race and the chance to honor them. But we will not let this defeat us. Together with the Nellie Gail Ranch Owners Association and the City, we found a way to bring these Marines’ the honor they earned on Memorial Day. We hope many of you will come walk by the display.

Reflection upon the courage and selflessness these young men displayed compels us to ask ourselves, can we, each in our way, follow their lead? If you would like to leave a tribute to honor them, or other first responders who answered their own call, flowers are welcome to be left at the display, either at the base of the banners or by the American Flags.
