Gowns, Gowns and More Gowns
Wow!  What an amazing response to the Team Darkhorse 2024 Marine Corps Birthday Gown Drive.  Dozens of lovely gowns were  donated and we can imagine the wonderful evening the Marine Corps servicewomen, wives and husbands will have at the Birthday Ball!  Thank you to all who donated!!
Town Hall Meeting – CR&R Waste Collection
Representatives of CR&R attended the Town Hall to review changes in 2025 to waste collection in Nellie Gail Ranch and the City of Laguna Hills.  Under the new contract with the City all waste collection bins will be changed out with new bins starting in January 2025.  Like for like containers will be swapped out over the first few months of the year.  There will be a heightened focus on organics which include landscape clippings, food waste and “small amounts” of manure & stable bedding.  Trash collection rates will change July 1, 2025 to the amounts listed on page 10 of the link.  The most significant potential impact is related to manure collection rates.  Most Nellie Gail Ranch homes with horses are disposing of manure as organics in low volume amounts.  However, some higher volume private stables are currently being billed specifically for manure collection, those rates will be increasing 91.6% July 1st.  If you have a large number of organics bins that are primarily filled with manure and bedding CR&R may begin a process of converting billing to the manure rate.  At this time we do not have information as to how much bedding may be disposed of as organic before converting to a manure rate.  That is something CR&R will be evaluating in 2025.  Attached is a handout with information provided at the meeting including  rate information and contact information if you want to reach out to CR&R with any questions regarding your personal circumstances.

HAPPY FALL, Y’ALL!
Our inaugural Nellie Gail Ranch FAMILY FALL FESTIVAL was a resounding success last Saturday. It was wonderful to see families come together to enjoy the festivities.  THE REFLEXX live performance was fantastic, and they had people dancing and singing to the 80s greatest hits! A very special thank you to our event Contributing Sponsor, Melody Smith & Associates/Anvil Real Estate.
Happy Birthday Mickey Hayden
Mickey Hayden arrived at Nellie Gail Ranch and the Equestrian Center in October 1992 as owner and head trainer of Hayden Show Jumping & Riding School.  Over the years he has taught countless Equestrian Center boarders and Nellie Gail Ranch homeowners how to skillfully ride and compete at the highest levels of show jumping.  Mickey and friends celebrated his 70th birthday Wednesday evening at The Watering Hole.  The theme?  70’s of course!

Trabuco Canyon Airport FireEPC Response
The Emergency Preparedness Committee (EPC) solicited Nellie Gail Ranch homeowners for available stalls to assist equine evacuees of this weeks Trabuco Canyon Airport Fire.  Within hours we had twelve homeowners make thirty stalls available.  Special thank you to EPC Member Deirdre Spalding who was in contact Monday evening and this week with our homeowners and the equine coordinator at the fire command post in Silverado Canyon and a trainer at Coto de Caza.  These generous homeowners hosted over a dozen animals including mares with foals, goats and trail horses.  Our Equestrian Center also hosted a dozen horses and it appears a number of other evacuating horses had access to the Orange County fairgrounds, Los Alamitos racetrack and a stable in Brea.  We appreciate the willingness of Nellie Gail Ranch homeowners to respond so quickly to host animals in need!!
