Nellie Gail’s Got Talent Concert Tonight!
Fire Behind Maverick Circle
There was a small brush fire on Tuesday afternoon between Maverick Circle and the 73 toll road that was quickly extinguished by fire fighters. There were 2 local fire stations that responded to the brush fire and they worked quickly to extinguish the fire with the help of two water drops from helicopters. The firemen were complimentary of the weed abatement and groomed trail that helped stop the fire from spreading quickly. They had a suspicion that the fire may have potentially started from an ember that drifted from the Laguna Beach fire earlier that day. Please make sure your rear slopes are weed abated and brush free to create your own defensible space.

 Equine Health Update
As many of you might know there has been a case of Vesicular Stomatitis Virus (VSV) in Orange County as of (6/5/23). We are carefully monitoring the cases and are in communication with the CDFA veterinarians to ensure we are doing all we can to keep our horses safe from VSV.
Guidelines for VSV Prevention that you can do to help your horse & others at Nellie Gail Ranch:

Remove all feed buckets, trays that have food particles from the stalls (flies are attracted to food).Keep your area CLEAN and remove any unnecessary food containers that will attract flies.Throw away all trash and keep trash lids closed.Do not store manure pitch forks, manure carts etc.  in proximity to your stall as they attract flies.Use fly spray and fly protectant gear (fly sheet, fly mask etc.).Ask your veterinarian about food supplements that help prevent flies ( ex: garlic)Clean your saddle pads and equipment and store them in your trunks.Avoid placing grain balls or any type of treat/toy that will attract flies to your horse’s stall. *VSV is transmissible to humans and causes flu like symptoms for 2 weeks.*
GVSV in San Diego County, Riverside County, San Bernadino, Orange County & Los Angeles Nellie Gail Ranch has implemented the following protocols:

Boarders leaving Nellie Gail Ranch to go to Riverside County, San Diego County, San Bernadino County or traveling inside Orange County must quarantine at a stable/ranch outside of the infected counties (San Diego County, Riverside County, San Bernadino County Los Angeles & OC ) for a minimum of 9 days before returning to Nellie Gail Ranch (We advise not to travel unless necessary).Required Heath Certificate from a veterinarian stating that the horse or horses on the Health Certificate are free and clear of any signs of symptoms of VSV and are not a health risk to NGR. (Address of quarantine must be included on the health certificate).Nellie Gail Ranch has suspend all monthly memberships to Nellie Gail Ranch Equestrian Center (Non-Homeowners). Homeowners are permitted currently to enter Nellie Gail Ranch Equestrian Center. No trailering in allowed (except from an authorized quarantine facility).
