Fire Awareness |
The recent Southern California wildfires have raised awareness of the importance of fire safety. It has also raised the level of anxiety many feel when seeing potential sources of fire in the community. Now is the time to be extra cautious, extra vigilant, Here are some examples of things we have received calls on that homeowners should be wary of: • Many homes have large slopes that are unseen on a regular basis due to distance from the home. Please review your entire property to evaluate. The Orange County Fire Authority website has information regarding Vegetation Management, Home Hardening and online assessment tools. https://ocfa.org/AboutUs/Departments/CommunityRiskReductionDirectory/PreFireManagement.aspx • Open fires in firepits and fireplaces in backyards. Now may not be the best time to have these types of open flames, even in firepits and fireplaces. However, if you do choose to entertain in this manner, please have a fire extinguisher or hose ready to douse any flying embers. • Vendors welding in proximity to trails and landscape. All vendors should have awareness of the surroundings they are doing work in and vendors performing work that may involve flames, or potentially sparks, should have appropriate fire extinguishers within reach. • Leaves or brush on the trail or in the easement. We maintain the easements consistent with the terms of the easement, for equestrian purposes. As the easements are on property owned by homeowners, each homeowner may choose to perform a heightened level of maintenance to trim plant material within the easement but outside of the trail or remove tree branches, leaves etc. If you have questions or concerns regarding your easement maintenance you may call the business office at 949-425-1477 or e-mail Hinkle@NellieGailRanch.org to discuss or request an appointment for us to visit. |

Home Security Alert |
CrimeMapping.com – Helping You Build a Safer Community reflects one burglary in December and two this January within Nellie Gail Ranch. Sheriff investigators have confirmed both January burglaries that occurred early evening within 35 minutes this past weekend were conducted by the same crew. They used jammers to disable cameras and were in and out of each home within 10 minutes. The vehicle had fraudulent plates not associated with the vehicle they were on. The vehicles involved were not suspicious in appearance and were not parked on the streets for extended periods of time. The investigations are ongoing and active. While these incidents highlight how challenging it is to resolve these crimes, there is one positive all three had in common – neighbors cameras were able to be reviewed by the victims and the investigators to create a timeline and identify a potential vehicle and the community Flock cameras at entries also had images that law enforcement have been able to access. Neighbors are helping neighbors!! |
Investigators encourage all homeowners to be extra vigilant onbehalf of yourself and your neighbors. |
• If a vehicle parks on your street after dark and multiple people exit the vehicle and head to a trail head, call the sheriff immediately. All three of the above incidents involved three individuals.• If you have alarms, please set them when you leave.• Don’t leave valuables or safes in obvious places.• If you hear a neighbors alarm, call the Sheriff. |

Moulton Arena |
Moulton Arena will be Closed forRenovation January 6-24th The Equestrian Committee and Trails Committee have evaluated the Moulton Arena’s functionality and developed a renovation plan to modernize the arena and improve its functionality. The current arena is an irregular shape and its outdated racing rails reduce the usable surface of the arena. A plan has been developed to demo the existing railings and replace the single arena with a 50 foot diameter round pen for training and exercise separate from the arena. Adjacent to the round pen we will construct a 170 foot by 80 foot arena with modular railings. This project will provide an enhanced equestrian experience at Moulton Park in support of the Nellie Gail Ranch equestrian heritage. |
